School Councils and Home and School Associations play a vital role in the educa­tion system in Ontario. They provide a forum through which parents/guardians and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achieve­ment and school performance.

Mission

The mission of the Southside School Council and the Home and School Association is to foster an inviting, inclusive, and vibrant environment for the entire Southside family of students, parents and staff. We strive to create a welcoming environment for all members of the community, to celebrate successes and promote school-wide engagement.

Who We Are

The Southside School Council and Home and School Association is comprised of parents, members of the community, the principal, teachers and support staff who are committed to enhancing our students' experience at school.

Through regularly scheduled meetings, members meet and discuss issues vital to our edu­cation community. Members are encouraged to attend regular monthly meetings and frequently communicate via internet. Those unable to attend may choose to receive copies of meeting agendas and minutes via email.

How to Help

There is an open invitation to join us whenever possible.   Schools work best when parents, communities and schools work together! We would like to increase parent involvement and would like to hear from you to better serve the needs of our school community. We look forward to seeing you there. Check the school's monthly newsletters for dates/times. 

No Time to Attend Regular Meetings but Still Want to Participate?

• Volunteer to help organize/run one of our fundraisers
• Help from home: co-ordinate one of our addi­tional fundraising efforts
